How to export from Pinboard
- Sign in to Pinboard and go to pinboard.in/settings/backup.
- Click JSON to download a file like
pinboard_export.json. - Drop that file below — tags, notes, dates, and the public/private flag all come through.
Everything happens in your browser — the file you drop in is parsed locally with JavaScript and never uploaded to Batata or anyone else. Close the tab and it's gone.

- What does the Pinboard JSON export contain?
- Each bookmark's URL (href), title (description), notes (extended), space-separated tags, save time, and shared flag. The viewer reads all of it.
- Is my backup uploaded anywhere?
- No. The JSON is parsed in your browser with JavaScript. Nothing is sent to any server, and the file never leaves your device.
- Pinboard still works — why would I move?
